“Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.” — Emilie Buchwald

Children, who are read to, allowed to experience books as babies, toddlers, and preschoolers normally love to read. My grandchildren love books. I believe in part it is because the oldest looked at books and thought she was highlighting books when her Mom was in nursing school, reading, reading, and reading. She and her husband also read to her. The youngest is now 4 looking at books because she sees her older sister, 7, reading all the time–books and downloads from her Kindle.  A seven year old reading on a 5th and 6th grade level is pretty amazing to me. Reading introduced at an early age can introduce children to a world of knowledge. The more you read, the more you will know, and the more you know, the further you will go.
