My Earthly Dad IS With My Heavenly DAD,this year!

Poems for YOU, on Father’s Day, DAD

         Wonderful Legacy

by Teresa Shelton Bright

There Is A Wonderful Legacy
Of Which I Wish To Tell
About A Wonderful Man
That We Loved So Well
His Strength Lives Within Us
And Grows Stronger Each Day
His Honor Still Lingers
Though His Life Has Slipped Away
I Miss The Sound Of His Laughter
And His Stern Lectures Too!
I Miss Hearing Him Say, “I Love You”
He Fought A Good Battle
Then Gave Up The Fight
To Rest In The Arms Of Jesus
What A Beautiful Sight
In Our Hearts His Memory
Will Always Stay
Nothing Could Ever Take
His Remembrance Away

Forever In My Heart!!
I remember your face
I remember your smile
I remember your laugh
I remember your tenderness
I remember how you protected me
and I know you still do..
You’ve been with God for
quite some time.
But the years will never
let me forget.
I will always remember you
Forever In My Heart!!!

God looked around his garden.
And found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the Earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you,
And lifted you to rest.
God’s Garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.
He knew you were suffering,
He knew that you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
get well on Earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough.
And the hills were hard to climb,
So he closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered “Peace be thine.”
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you.
The day God called you home…

We Thought Of You Today

We thought of you today,
But that is nothing new.
We thought of you yesterday
And will tomorrow, too.

We think of you in silence
And make no outward show.
For what it meant to lose you
Only those who love you know.

Remembering you is easy,
We do it everyday.
It’s the heartache of losing you
That will never go away

I will always be that “little girl”.

Hugs & Kisses to you in heaven this Father’s Day Weekend!

Father’s Day—Dad, a Noble Warrior?

“Father’s Day comes once a year on a day in June. For those of you wondering just why it is that our nation sets aside a special day for fathers, let’s put this in perspective. To begin with, if it weren’t for some random guy named Dad, you wouldn’t be here! When you really stop and think about it, it’s no laughing matter. After all, some guy named Dad cared enough about your future existence to marry your Mom and then hang around for 18 years while you grew from an embryo to an infant to a bratty teenager to a full grown adult. That’s quite some commitment, and a lot of time, money, and effort. Parenting is a two partner project, and it’s only natural to celebrate both partners alike.

So, the Fathers get their own day, each and every year, on the third Sunday in June. Father’s Day means a great many things to a great many people. But most of us will agree that Father’s Day means the day in which you celebrate your Dad’s existence. Father’s Day is the day you bring your Dad a little gift. It’s the day we all say “Thank you for being there, Dad! Thanks for everything you did, and for just being you!” In this day and age of rampant divorce and parental abandonment, it’s more important than ever to pay our due tribute to the fathers who took the time and made the major commitment simply to Be There. There aren’t as many of such noble warriors as you might imagine.

Does Dad really want a gift for Father’s Day, or can you safely ignore it? Naturally, we don’t know the secret wishes and inclinations of every Dad in America. Some do, some don’t. But we’re pretty well sure that, even if your Dad doesn’t make a big deal out of the holiday (or any holiday for that matter, especially his birthday!), your Dad will certainly appreciate receiving some small trinket and token of your affection. Just don’t get all soppy and mushy about it! Ger Dad something useful, like a tool, or a sports memento, or something of the sort. In the end, it’s the gesture that really counts. Your Dad is sure to be very glad that you care enough about him to get him anything at all!

You’ve really got to know your father’s character well before you make a decision as to whether or not to purchase a Father’s Day gift for them. And, in the end, isn’t it better to simply err on the side of tradition? Let’s face it, no one turns down a free gift! And your Dad will always appreciate the gesture you extend to him.” ~~Copied

A gift from the heart is always the perfect gift! A gift of being present, a hug, a kiss, a song, a homemade card or purchased one, etc. are always appropriate, appreciated, and show love, concern, and thankfulness. If you’re quite a distance, a call would be nice or if you and your dad are both in the technological age, skype together!

Whatever way you choose to show your Dad love and appreciation on this Father’s Day and Father’s Day Weekend, know that the time you share could be your last–the time spent together is “priceless”! No amount of money can replace the memories made by being together. There are those without their Dads this year because of death, be it sickness or tragedy or simply he grew old and the body gave out. I know that those without their Dads would give you this advice: Don’t miss spending time with your Dad, make amends if there has been a “falling out”. The opportunity you have today or Sunday, may never come again.

Happy Father’s Day to all the DADs reading this article. IF at all possible, spend some quality time with your children/children with your Dad and make a commitment to be present as often as possible. To those who have raised children as your own, although not a biological Dad, Happy Father’s Day to YOU! Any male can help a Mom birth a child, but it takes a “special man” to be a “DAD”!
