Not A Convenience Store

Creep or Soar?   “One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar.”~~Helen Keller.  When life gets you down, remember to spread your wings even more, and an updraft will take you to places you never thought you could get.

Remember, there is always someone with a worse story, a worse problem. Be happy with the little things and shake off whatever is bothering you. Seek advice of someone more knowledgeable in the area you’re struggling. It’s easier to seek help from someone wiser than to allow yourself to fall deeper into distress, melancholy, or something worse. Don’t forget to pray for your situation (1 Chronicles 16:11) and to ask others to be praying for a situation.

I miss life as I use to know it, and as I began to get a handle on the “new norm” for life, it changed drastically. As I began to adjust to life as it was, it changed once again.

After reading so many FB posts of sicknesses, loss of limbs, deaths, tragedies, murders, robberies, and missing individuals, I am thankful and happy to be alive.

I’ve heard people say “It’s God’s will” or “I’ll just leave it up to God” when faced with a serious illness, tragedy, financial crisis, and/or economic & political crises. Don’t listen to that mindset; it is not true. God wants us to pray to him for help, whenever we are in need of anything. HE wants us to pray for ourselves(1 Chronicles 16:11), our families, for others(1 Timothy 2:1), and for our Nation(2 Chronicles 7:14-15).

The problem is, many wait to pray when we are in trouble and not when all is well and we’re happy. Understand that if we pray regularly(e.g. 15 minutes, several times a day),we stay in a constant state of prayer. “Pray without ceasing.” Thank HIM for HIS blessings(our loved ones, clothes, your home, a bed to sleep in, water to bathe in & purified water to drink, food, the electronics you use each day (tv, phone, computers) , eyes to read and to enjoy beauty, ears to enjoy music, and so on).

God wants a relationship; He’s not a convenience store.

He wants to be YOUR Closest COMPANION. If HE lives within you, HE’s closer to you than your spouse, parent, or child. Why ignore HIM?

HE wants to see you in HIS house of worship, worshipping and praising HIM. He wants you to speak to him, to see you begin your day in prayer and end it in prayer and talk to HIM on your way to work or while out and about. HE wants you to talk to your children about HIM.

What happens when you don’t talk to a spouse? a child? a parent? a friend? The relationship ends, splits apart, or at best, isn’t too good if it still exists.
